For this spell, go barefoot into a forest with a container of water. Find a tree that seems, for some reason, to have a particular strength to it-perhaps from age or character. Greet the tree, and pouring the water about its base, state your wish to talk with it. Find what seems to you to be the proper location around the tree, plant your feet firmly, hold onto the tree as you press yourself against it. Dig your toes strongly into the ground, imagining that you are sending forth your own roots into the earth. Close your eyes and press your forehead against the bark of the tree. “Speak” to the tree in images and feelings, and leave your mind open to feel what the tree is feeling. Feel the life-force as it flows within the trunk of your tree-friend, and understand the tree’s outlook on existence. Take your time. Experience, and enjoy yourself.
